Google launches U.S. election site in time for Iowa caucuses

Google launched its Election 2012 site just in time for the Iowa caucuses, including this trending page where users can compare how often candidates are mentioned in searches, appear in stories or blogs, and are views on YouTube videos.

With the race for U.S. President about to officially kick off this week with the Iowa caucuses, Google Inc.?

"There's no question that the Internet is set to deliver more political information, opinion and news than any other medium throughout the 2012 U.S. elections," wrote Eric Hysen of Google's Politics & Elections Team, on the company's (NASDAQ:GOOG) official blog.

One feature is a trending page that allows users to compare how the candidates are showing up in searches, news stories, blogs and YouTube videos.

It also offers information about candidates and issues, as well as Google tools for campaigns journalists covering them.
